As far back as in the early nineteen fifties, one of the founders of PIAB, Sven Tell, designed the PIAB Dynamometer - an accurate, durable and user-friendly instrument for measuring tension forces in cables and ropes.

The PIAB Dynamometer was the symbol of the company for many years. Indeed, the instrument is still in use all over the world, for example as overload guard in hoisting systems, in construction of overhead transmission lines, bridge structures and telecommunication plants together with many other applications requiring measurement of tension force.
