During a period of time have different linemen tested and comparised different competitor tension meters. PG&E needs the instruments when adjusting and controlling tension in guywires for 500KV 2HVL&3HVL Transmission Towers. The Tower Line is built in right through ( North - South ) California. PIAB RTM 20D Rope Tension Meter was selected for the following reasons:
A. Simple to use.
B. Userfriendly ( Balanced design. Tightening deviced is placed in the centerpoint ) C. Light Weight.
D. Accurate.
E. Can be calibrated for 10 different guywires or conductors on a single unit. For each calibration is a certificate provided.
F. All mechanical parts, which are exposed for wear are hardended and grinded.
